Home & Commercial

EV Charger Installation

Whether you are charging one car at home or outfitting a fleet depot, we design and install the right charging solution. Licensed electricians, clean installs, done right.

Home Charging

Level 2 home charging is the gold standard. A dedicated 240V circuit delivers 7 to 19 kW, giving you a full charge overnight. Wake up every morning with a full battery, just like your phone.

  • 240V dedicated circuit installation
  • Charger mounting and wiring
  • Permit and inspection included
  • Works with all EV makes and models

Commercial Charging

Attract customers, retain employees, and future-proof your property. We install workplace, retail, and fleet charging stations with network management and payment capabilities.

  • Workplace employee charging stations
  • Retail and hospitality guest charging
  • Fleet depot installations
  • Networked chargers with payment and reporting

Understanding Charger Levels

Level 1
120V
1.4 kW

Standard household outlet. Adds about 5-8 km of range per hour. Only practical for plug-in hybrids or very light daily driving.

Charge time
40-60 hours (full charge)
Best for
Emergency backup or plug-in hybrids with small batteries
Level 2
240V
7-19 kW

Dedicated 240V circuit, same as your dryer or stove. Adds 30-70 km of range per hour. The standard for home and workplace charging.

Charge time
4-10 hours (full charge)
Best for
Home charging, workplaces, retail locations, fleet depots
DC Fast Charging
400-900V DC
50-350 kW

High-power commercial stations. Requires significant electrical infrastructure and is typically installed at highway stops and public charging stations.

Charge time
20-45 minutes (80%)
Best for
Highway corridors, high-traffic commercial locations

Infrastructure

Panel Upgrades

Many Saskatchewan homes were built with 100A electrical panels. That was plenty for the 1980s, but today's homes with EV chargers, heat pumps, and solar need 200A service. We upgrade your panel so your home can handle everything you throw at it.

You might need an upgrade if:

  • Your home has a 100A electrical panel (common in homes built before 2000)
  • Adding a 40A+ EV charger would exceed your panel capacity
  • You plan to add solar, a hot tub, or other high-draw equipment
  • Your breaker trips when running multiple appliances
  • You want to future-proof your home for additional EV chargers

What's Involved

01
Assessment

We inspect your current panel, calculate your total load, and determine the right upgrade path.

02
Permit & Coordination

We pull the electrical permit and coordinate with SaskPower for the service upgrade.

03
Panel Swap

Old panel comes out, new 200A panel goes in. All circuits transferred and tested.

04
Inspection & Energize

Final inspection, SaskPower connects the new service, and you are up and running.

Smart Home

Energy Monitoring

Know exactly where your energy goes. Smart monitoring systems give you real-time visibility into consumption, solar production, and EV charging, all from your phone.

Real-Time Consumption

See exactly how much power your home, EV charger, and appliances are using at any moment.

Solar Production Tracking

Monitor how much energy your solar panels generate and how much is exported to the grid.

EV Charging Analytics

Track charging sessions, energy consumed, costs, and optimal charging schedules.

Historical Data

View daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly trends to understand your energy patterns.

Common Use Cases

Detached Garage

EV charger, power tools, lighting, and heated space all need their own panel.

Workshop or Shop

Welders, compressors, and heavy equipment require dedicated circuits and proper amperage.

Outbuildings

Barns, quonsets, and storage buildings with lighting, heating, or equipment needs.

Home Additions

Basement suites, additions, or renovations that exceed the main panel capacity.

Outbuildings & Garages

Sub-Panel Installations

Garages, shops, and outbuildings need their own electrical service. A sub-panel gives you dedicated circuits, proper amperage, and room to grow. This is especially common for EV charger installations in detached garages where running a single circuit from the house is not practical.

What we install:

  • 60A to 200A sub-panels sized to your needs
  • Underground or overhead feeder runs
  • Full circuit layout with room for expansion
  • Code-compliant installation with permit and inspection

The Best Combination

Solar + EV Charging

Charge your car with energy from your own roof. Solar panels generate the power, net metering banks the credits, and your EV charger draws it back. The result: driving on sunshine for pennies per kilometre.

Annual Driving Cost Comparison

Based on 15,000 km per year of average Saskatchewan driving.

Gas vehicle (15,000 km/yr)
$0.16 - $0.21 per km
$2,400 - $3,200
per year
EV on grid power
$0.04 - $0.06 per km
$600 - $900
per year
EV on solar power
$0.00 - $0.01 per km
$0 - $150
per year

With solar + EV, a Saskatchewan household can save $2,000 to $3,000 per year on fuel costs alone. Over 10 years, that is $20,000 to $30,000 back in your pocket.

Net Metering Works for You

Your solar panels produce the most energy during the day while you are at work. That energy gets banked as credits with SaskPower. When you plug in at night, those credits offset the cost. Net result: free driving.

One Contractor, One Project

We install both the solar system and the EV charger. One design, one permit process, one team. This saves time and often reduces the total cost compared to hiring separately.

Future-Proof Your Home

As gas prices rise and more household systems go electric (heat pumps, water heaters, induction stoves), having solar capacity already installed puts you ahead. Your panel upgrade today supports everything you will add tomorrow.

Increased Property Value

Homes with solar and EV charging infrastructure sell faster and for more. Buyers increasingly look for energy-efficient homes with low operating costs.
